Oct. 18 第一期修課時的雜想

After the stress is out, I feel myself more happy and more able the receive information, to feel, to think and to smile. I looked in the mirror and told myself, yes, you can still prepare and perform well. After doing some studies, meeting with my team members, exchange ideas, (I do most of the talking, actually), and then speak to the professor about out ideas and points in order to receive some feed back. I know that my ability of expressing an idea is still unstable, but obviously, the part which I explained to the guys caome out more fluently then when I speak to the professor. Comparing with the thoughts that just formed, my ability in bring my question and idea base is still quite weak. I am glad that I have the environment to practice my oral English beyond the daily conversation level, but in topics of my studies, where I grasp new theory and information immediately and try to communicate and share with others in discussion.

I like the way that students here try to form their arguments based on what they learnt in the textbooks, and this influences their peers’ work. How professors emphasize this part, and also hint, guild students in acquiring this ability. Being here, I see no matter in which education stage, students need special supervisor to guild them, to help them forming the ability they should gain in each particular stages. We often think that after a certain age (high school, perhaps), the ability to learn and the habit of study is fixed and therefore schools/ universities’ is only responsible to present the knowledge and leave the rest to the students. But what I see is that this may work most well in a competitive, and self-disciplined group of students. Otherwise, passive students will keep on producing non-improving reports throughout their studies and trapped in the fear of stagnation in study which mean lack of competitiveness.

How does the job market come up with the idea that university graduates are useless? The over supply of university labor resources cannot answer nor explain this wide- spread image. The years of schooling and tuition paid should have a required value added or it will just be a waste of time from our most productive human resources in the society.
